Background
Most of the land in Somaliland is semi arid. There is very little crop farming on this land. Even
animal farming is curtailed by lack of enough water for healthy livestock. Irrespective of these
appalling conditions, there is poor Dryland management. This is further aggravated by
environmental land degradation at alarming rate. The coastal part of Somaliland receives less
than 100mm of rain and the largest part of the Country receives between 100mm 200mm.
Though there is a an agricultural corridor (Baki District) that receives between 600mm to
1000mm it is a small place relative to the whole location we intend to handle.
Below is a map showing the rainfall distribution in Somaliland;

It is our commitment to see to the reclamation of land to farming condition through training the
people on soil conservation methods, liaising with the government to offer extension services to
the farmers on environmental sustainability and efficient and equitable Dryland use.
